Urumqi Diwobao International Airport is located in Diwobao, northwest of Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, 16.8 km from downtown Urumqi.
Urumqi Diwobao International Airport was originally a Sino-Soviet civil aviation airport, and was approved by the State Council for expansion in July 1970. On March 27, 2010, the T3 terminal was opened.
Urumqi International Airport has a flight area of 4E, an elevation of 647.67m, a 3600×45×0.38m runway, a 3600×28×0.28m taxiway, runway operation category: 07 Class I, 25 Class II, and fire rescue class 9.
Urumqi Airport has three terminals, T1, T2 and T3, with a total area of 185,000 square meters, a cargo depot of 60,000 square meters, 93 parking spaces, 34 corridors; 111 check-in counters, 12 self-service check-in units, 47 security check channels, 12 outbound baggage carousels and 9 inbound baggage carousels. It can meet the annual passenger throughput of 17.3 million passengers, annual cargo and mail throughput of 275,000 tons and annual take-off and landing capacity of 155,000 flights.
Since August 2007, Beijing Beijing Airport Engineering Co., Ltd. has undertaken the installation of navigation lighting, apron lighting and power supply for the expansion of Urumqi Diwobao International Airport, navigation lighting and power supply for the second taxiway project, navigation lighting and apron lighting for the new apron project on the south side of the T3 terminal A corridor, etc. All the projects undertaken have passed the completion inspection and The project department was awarded the title of "Autonomous Region Workers' Pioneer Team" by the Urumqi Command.
