The new international airport in Luanda, Angola, located in the city of Icolo e Bengo, 30 kilometres from the capital, is a fundamental project of the Angolan government's strategy and a landmark of bilateral cooperation between China and Angola, and will become the most functional, largest and most dynamic international airport in the African region.

The new airport is planned to have a capacity of 15 million passengers per year, 100,000 aircraft movements per year and 50,000 tonnes of cargo and mail. The new airport will have two flight areas, 4F (for A380) and 4E, as well as related auxiliary facilities; the construction area of the airport will reach 500,000 square metres (including 185,000 square metres for the terminal building); and the road and greening area will be 1.2 million square metres. The completion of the new airport has promoted connectivity between Angola and other parts of Africa and the world, driven the development of the airside industry, injected new vitality into the Angolan economy and brought a diversified living experience to the Angolan people.

Beijing Jingangan Airport Engineering Co. Ltd. is responsible for the visual aids lighting project, power supply installation and roadside lighting project, as well as the operation and maintenance of the substations of the individual buildings at the airport, with a construction period of 16 months, from July 2017 to November 2018.
